OneTask

About OneTask

Complete an endless backlog by focusing on one task at a time.

OneTask is a tiny productivity app with one idea: you keep an endless backlog, but the app only ever shows you one task. You complete it, skip it, or push it down — and the next one appears. No projects, no tags, no due dates. Just the next thing.

The one-task method

  1. Dump everything into the backlog. Anything that takes up space in your head goes in.
  2. Open the Now screen. OneTask shows you a single task — picked at random, or in backlog order if you prefer.
  3. Do it and mark it Completed. Not now? Skip shows another one. Not important? Low priority pushes it to the end of the backlog.

Because you only ever look at one task, there is no list to scan and no decision to make. The backlog can be as long as it wants — it never gets in your way.

Guest mode and sync

OneTask works without an account. As a guest, everything you add lives in this browser and nothing is sent anywhere. When you create a free account, the tasks you already have are saved to it, and from then on every change syncs across your devices. Changes are applied instantly on your screen and saved in the background; if you go offline, they are kept and sent once you are back.

Privacy

Your data lives in your browser until you sign in. With an account, tasks are stored on our servers so that your other devices can see them. We store your email, a nickname and a password hash — nothing else about you. Sign out to remove the tasks from a shared computer; they stay in your account.

Keyboard shortcuts

Shortcuts work whenever you are not typing in a text field.
